Church in a Parking Lot
Imagine the parking lot of a FastTrac hamburger stand that has been converted to a Check Cashing business in near downtown Baton Rouge add 1 large wooden cross, 2 smaller one, a bunch of palm branches, a blug rug and a man filled with the Holy Spirit and you have a Church.
Members of St. Andrews UMM and their wives joined Pastor Joseph Moore and 36-40 homeless citizens for worship on April 5th. There were no hymnals, no altar or the other things we associate with church, however, there was an obvious love of God and the sincere desire to worship Him. Pastor Moore assured everyone that Jesus loves them no matter where they lay their head to sleep.
After the service St. Andrews members gave the congregation a sack lunch, toilet items and some snacks for later. Everyone felt they had been fed whether it was their body or their soul. As Pastor Moore would say "Don't make me do it by myself, let's hear an AMEN!"

UMM Retreat May 16 & 17. 9 men attended an overnight retreat at the Solomon Episcopal Retreat Center in Robert, Louisiana. The theme of the retreat was "Christian Manhood". Friday evening started with introduction and sharing. The stories and experiences revealed a group that represented an amazing variety of geography, age, culture and politics. Our day ended with song and communion in the beautiful chapel. Saturday began with a hearty breakfast and chapel time. The weather was gorgeous so the morning study and discussion took place in a sunny spot by the lake. A late morning break allowed time to walk the grounds and take in the beauty of God's creation. After lunch study and discussion was resumed in a conference room provided by the center. The retreat was completed by an afternoon service of song, prayer and communion. The group resolved to have another retreat later in the year utilizing a place and topic recommended by our pastor. You are invited to join us for the growth and enrichment God gives those who dedicate time to draw near to Him.
